                            SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 1136
 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
 recognize Gary Slagel, who is retiring as mayor and Place 4
 council member of the City of Richardson after more than two
 decades of outstanding service to the city; and
 WHEREAS, Mr. Slagel was first elected mayor in 1991, after
 having served on the city council and the Zoning Board of
 Adjustment and Appeals; he was a member of the executive board of
 the North Central Texas Council of Governments from 1991 to 1996
 and served as its president from 1994 to 1995; and
 WHEREAS, President and chief executive officer of
 CapitalSoft, Incorporated, he received the Tech Titans Award
 from the Metroplex Technology Business Council in 2002 and was
 selected as the 2007 Public Official Business Partner of the Year
 by Inside Collin County Business; and
 WHEREAS, Talented and resourceful, he has served on the
 executive committee of the Dallas Regional Mobility Coalition
 and as a member of the advisory council for the Texas
 Transportation Institute at Texas A&M University; and
 WHEREAS, An exemplary public servant, he is respected and
 admired by his colleagues and constituents alike, and his
 presence on the Richardson City Council will be greatly missed;
 now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd
 Legislature, hereby commend Gary Slagel on his exceptional
 service to the people of Richardson and extend to him best wishes
 for continued success in all his endeavors; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
 him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
