SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 1164 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize Keia Broussard, who is being presented by the Alpha Kappa Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, at its 13th Biennial Debutante Cotillion; and WHEREAS, Founded on the campus of Howard University in Washington, D.C., in 1908, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, is the oldest Greek-letter organization established by African American college women; the Alpha Kappa Omega Chapter was chartered in Houston in 1928; and WHEREAS, The Alpha Kappa Omega Chapter has a rich heritage of commitment to service to all mankind; this year's debutante cotillion is a celebration of the lives of 23 accomplished young women who have the potential to become exemplary role models in their communities; and WHEREAS, These 23 young ladies have participated in cultural and community service activities and workshops that have enhanced their knowledge and leadership development, as well as their social and etiquette skills; and WHEREAS, Keia exemplifies the strong character, poise, and commitment to service that Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, seeks to develop in today's young ladies, and she is truly well prepared for her formal presentation to society at this prestigious event; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd Legislature, hereby commend Keia Broussard on her achievements and her commitment to excellence and extend congratulations to her on the occasion of her presentation at the 13th Biennial Debutante Cotillion; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for her as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
