                            SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 1174
 WHEREAS, Jimmy and Peggy Burke were united in love and
 marriage on June 2, 1961, and will be celebrating their 50th
 wedding anniversary this year; and
 WHEREAS, Jimmy and Peggy's 50-year union and unyielding
 loyalty and devotion to one another serve as an inspiration to
 their family, friends, and neighbors; and
 WHEREAS, They have been blessed with the love of their five
 children, without any of them receiving permanent or lasting
 damage from each other:  Adrian, Scott, Chad, Todd, and
 Rena'--all graduates of Texas A&M University--and their spouses,
 Traci, Erin, Shannon, Amy, and Jason; and
 WHEREAS, They have been further blessed with the love of
 their grandchildren, Jimmy, Susie, Kadie, Ellie, Heather,
 Blaine, CJ, Jolie, Reagan, Nathan, Avery, Adalyn, Audrey,
 Annelise, and Alisabeth, and they look forward to meeting Caden,
 who is on his way; and
 WHEREAS, They have carpooled and coached every team,
 practice, game, and party for over 60 combined years of youth
 athletics and organizations and now enjoy time as avid
 agriculturists and nature conservators; and
 WHEREAS, The devotion, patience, and understanding
 demonstrated by Jimmy and Peggy Burke have provided a strong
 foundation for family members and a framework for success within
 which they have all developed and flourished; and
 WHEREAS, Jimmy and Peggy Burke have diligently supported
 each other and served their community through public office for
 over 40 years, including as councilman, mayor, and port
 commissioner; and
 WHEREAS, They have been active members and leaders in their
 church family at the Deer Park Church of Christ, with Jimmy
 serving as deacon and elder and both serving as teachers
 throughout a marriage that has been firmly founded in their
 faith, which has been passed on to future generations; and
 WHEREAS, It is abundantly fitting and proper that Jimmy and
 Peggy Burke be congratulated on their many years of happiness and
 their magnificent 50-year commitment to each other; now,
 therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd
 Legislature, hereby congratulate Jimmy and Peggy Burke on their
 50th wedding anniversary and extend to them sincere best wishes
 for many more happy years together; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
 them as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
