                            SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 1203
 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is proud to
 recognize Fred Carmona for his civic leadership and his many
 contributions to the San Antonio community; and
 WHEREAS, Well known as a volunteer extraordinaire, Fred
 Carmona has spent years of selfless service on behalf of the
 citizens of San Antonio, and his dedication to his work is
 evident in a variety of activities that take place in the city
 today; and
 WHEREAS, As a member of the League of United Latin American
 Citizens, Mr. Carmona became involved with the Fiesta Flambeau
 Parade in 1988; since then, as a charter member of the Fiesta
 Flambeau Parade Association, he has volunteered hundreds of
 hours toward organizing the annual event; and
 WHEREAS, He is also responsible for the creation of the
 Veterans Day Parade; he served as the first-year director of the
 San Antonio United States Military Veterans Parade Association
 in 2000 and has volunteered each year thereafter; and
 WHEREAS, In addition, Mr. Carmona's work on behalf of the
 Avenida Guadalupe Association has been invaluable; each year, he
 has taken on months of demanding work to ensure that the Avenida
 events are successful and are enjoyed by the community; it is
 largely due to his skill and perseverance that the association's
 Diez y Seis de Septiembre Parade and Festival has proved to be an
 annual success; and
 WHEREAS, Noted for his generous spirit, his creative
 initiatives, and his dedication to helping others, Fred Carmona
 is a much beloved and respected San Antonio citizen; he is an
 exemplary gentleman who strives for excellence in all of his
 endeavors, and the city is most grateful for his leadership and
 remarkable accomplishments on behalf of the community; now,
 therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd
 Legislature, hereby commend Fred Carmona on his exceptional
 civic leadership and his outstanding contributions to the city of
 San Antonio; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
 him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
