SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 1208 In Memory of Emma Reyna Fuentes WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the citizens of Weslaco in mourning the loss of Emma Reyna Fuentes, who died March 25, 2011, at the age of 69; and WHEREAS, Emma Reyna was born in Weslaco on July 14, 1941, and she graduated from Weslaco High School in 1960; she married Gustavo Fuentes, and she was blessed with five children; and WHEREAS, She attended Conroe Business College, and she enjoyed a career with Montalvo Insurance, Alexander and Alexander Insurance, and the law firm of Ezequiel Reyna, Jr.; and WHEREAS, Dedicated to her work in the community, Emma Fuentes served as president of the parent teacher association and was an active member of the Weslaco High School Panther Booster Club; she spearheaded many fund-raisers for Weslaco athletes and assisted students with a variety of needs; and WHEREAS, An exemplary lady who participated in many causes, she served on the board of the Hidalgo County Juvenile Conference, which counsels juveniles who need guidance and direction; she was also most interested in politics and supported numerous candidates over the years; she was a devout Christian and an active member of Saint Joan of Arc Catholic Church; and WHEREAS, Emma Fuentes was respected in the community for her many accomplishments; she was noted for her remarkably generous nature, her adventurous spirit, and her willingness to give unselfishly of her time and energy; she was beloved by her family and friends, and she will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of sharing in her life; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved family of Emma Reyna Fuentes; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for her family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Emma Reyna Fuentes.
