SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 123 In Memory of Ladimer Gene Herold WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the citizens of San Antonio in mourning the loss of Ladimer Gene Herold, who died January 2, 2011, at the age of 77; and WHEREAS, Ladimer Gene Herold was born March 4, 1933, in Kerrville; he graduated from Jefferson High School and earned a degree in mechanical engineering from Texas A&M University in 1955; he served as an officer in the United States Air Force from 1955 to 1967 and left the service with the rank of captain; and WHEREAS, Following his military service, Mr. Herold joined the H. B. Zachry firm, working as an engineer on power plants, missile bases, chemical plants, and other facilities; he spent the last 20 years of his career with the firm as manager of purchasing and subcontracts and also served as minority liaison officer and as vice president of Bexar Equipment; he retired in 2000 after 35 years of service; and WHEREAS, Devoted to his alma mater, Mr. Herold was a member of the Association of Former Students of Texas A&M University and the San Antonio A&M Club, and he served on the advisory board of the 12th Man Foundation for 26 years; he was active in community affairs, serving on the boards of the South San Antonio Chamber of Commerce, the Helotes Board of Adjustment, the Architectural Review Board, and the Economic Development Corporation; and WHEREAS, A man of courage, generosity, and warmth, he gave unselfishly to others, and his wisdom, strength, and valued counsel will not be forgotten by those who knew him; and WHEREAS, He was devoted to his family, and he will continue to live in the hearts and minds of those he left behind; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved family of Ladimer Gene Herold: his brother and sister-in-law, James Herold and his wife, Debs; his daughter-in-law, Neva Herold, who was married to his late son, David; the mother of his children, Dahyn Tollette Herold; his daughters and son-in-law, Tina Herold Griffith and her husband, Howard, and Elaina Herold Shannon; and his grandchildren and great-granddaughter; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Ladimer Gene Herold.
