SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 142 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to welcome Texas Medical Association physicians, resident physicians, medical students, and alliance members, who will be visiting the State Capitol on the first Tuesday of each month during the 82nd Legislative Session; and WHEREAS, The Texas Medical Association was organized by 35 physicians in 1853 and now has more than 44,000 physician and medical student members; during each legislative session since 2003, these fine doctors and students have visited Austin from around the state to promote issues relevant to health care and to visit with state legislators regarding the association's legislative agenda; and WHEREAS, Many representatives of the association wear their professional white medical coats during their visits, which makes a visible impression as they walk the halls of the Capitol on their way to meet with their representatives and senators; and WHEREAS, These fine medical professionals seek to improve the medical profession and the delivery of health care for their patients, and they are truly deserving of recognition for their efforts; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd Legislature, hereby welcome the participants in the First Tuesdays at the Capitol program and commend the Texas Medical Association for its work on behalf of the citizens of this state; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
