SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 15 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas takes pleasure in recognizing the senior citizens of this state on the occasion of Senior Day at the State Capitol in 2011; and WHEREAS, Senior Day presents an opportunity for senior citizens to come together for discussion of their mutual interests and for consultation with their elected officials about issues of importance to them, their families, and society as a whole; and WHEREAS, Seniors are valuable citizens of this state and have made many contributions to its progress and welfare; with their experience, their wisdom, and their productive careers, they have provided innovative ideas, created prosperity through hard work, and sustained the economy, paying taxes and volunteering in their communities for the benefit of society as a whole; and WHEREAS, The seniors of this state reflect diverse cultural roots and exemplify the spirit of responsibility, cooperation, and dedication to the common good that has strengthened communities and made this state a better place; the people of Texas are indebted to seniors for their lifetime of work and for the standards of community service and citizenship they have set; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd Legislature, hereby pay tribute to the senior citizens of this state for the valuable role they play in our society and extend to them best wishes for an enjoyable and rewarding Senior Day at the State Capitol; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for them as an expression of highest regard from the Texas Senate.
