SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 153
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
join the students, faculty, staff, and alumni of the Texas Tech
University System and citizens across the state in celebrating
February 1, 2011, as Texas Tech University System Day at the
Texas Capitol; and
WHEREAS, Comprised of Texas Tech University, the Texas
Tech University Health Sciences Center, and Angelo State
University, the Texas Tech University System operates campuses
across the state and in Germany and Spain; and
WHEREAS, Under the direction of Chancellor Kent Hance,
the Texas Tech University System is committed to improving
access to higher education and strengthening the academic
quality of its member institutions; by expanding knowledge
through research and effectively managing its resources, the
system is providing exemplary service to its communities and
the state as a whole; and
WHEREAS, With growing enrollment and a dedicated faculty
and staff, the Texas Tech University System continues to provide
our state with exemplary leaders and citizens; its alumni have
played a major role in the development of Texas as a leader in
higher education; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd
Legislature, hereby commend the students, faculty, staff, and
alumni of the Texas Tech University System on their dedication to
the advancement of higher education in our state and extend to
them a sincere welcome to Austin for Texas Tech University System
Day at the Texas Capitol; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
the Texas Tech University System as an expression of high regard
from the Texas Senate.
