                            SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 163
 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
 recognize the cities of Tyler, Kilgore, and Longview as they join
 together to celebrate East Texas Coalition Day at the State
 Capitol; and
 WHEREAS, Situated in the Piney Woods area of East Texas,
 Tyler, Kilgore, and Longview share the virtues of great natural
 beauty, abundant resources, and an energetic and engaged
 populace; they have all played a vital role in the growth and
 prosperity of our state; and
 WHEREAS, Tyler is acknowledged as the area's preeminent
 medical center, has multiple institutions of higher education,
 and is home to the renowned Texas Rose Festival and the Municipal
 Rose Garden and Museum; and
 WHEREAS, Kilgore is an important center for the oil and
 high technology industries, and Kilgore College offers such
 outstanding cultural attractions as the Texas Shakespeare
 Festival and the world-famous Kilgore Rangerettes; and
 WHEREAS, Longview is the largest city in Gregg County and
 is home to LeTourneau University; it boasts exemplary
 institutions such as the Longview Museum of Fine Arts, several
 other museums, and the Great Texas Balloon Race; and
 WHEREAS, The citizens of these three great cities look
 confidently toward the future while continuing to embrace their
 rich and colorful past; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd
 Legislature, hereby commend the citizens of Tyler, Kilgore, and
 Longview for their many important contributions to the legacy of
 this state and extend to them best wishes for a memorable East
 Texas Coalition Day at the State Capitol; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
 them as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
