SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 180 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize Ryan Place Addition of Fort Worth on the grand occasion of the neighborhood's centennial celebration; and WHEREAS, The plans for Ryan Place began with the imagination of prominent Fort Worth landowner John C. Ryan, who envisioned a tract of land comprising 100 acres between College Avenue and Eighth Avenue as an area that could become one of the finest residential districts to be found anywhere in the South; and WHEREAS, An excellent example of far-sighted planning, Ryan Place became a vast neighborhood of well-kept, lovely homes, which eventually were shaded by massive, mature trees that are now a century old; and WHEREAS, On the original tract, a beautiful 100-foot-wide boulevard was laid out and paved, and large, ornate piers of Carthage marble were erected at the Eighth Avenue and College Avenue entryways; the boulevard became the center of the Elizabeth Boulevard Historic District, which was established in 1979 and was the first registered residential historic district in Fort Worth; and WHEREAS, Ryan Place residents established the first organized neighborhood association in Fort Worth in 1974 and have remained actively engaged in the betterment of their neighborhood since that time; the area was named Neighborhood of the Year by the City of Fort Worth in 2008, and in 2010, it was selected as Best Neighborhood by the Fort Worth, Texas magazine; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd Legislature, hereby commend the residents of Ryan Place Addition on preserving the beauty and many amenities of their unique neighborhood and extend to them best wishes on the occasion of their centennial celebration; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for the Ryan Place Homeowners Association and the residents of Ryan Place as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
