SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 22 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize Antonia R. Arias on the grand occasion of her 90th birthday; and WHEREAS, Known affectionately to her family as Toni, this gracious lady is well known for her charm and generosity of spirit, and she is a revered resident of our state; and WHEREAS, Antonia R. Arias was born January 17, 1921, to Milton and Concepcion Arias; she graduated from Sidney Lanier High School in 1939 and worked for 30 years at Kelly Air Force Base in the Directorate of Material Management, retiring as a cataloging specialist; and WHEREAS, Blessed with athletic and competitive skills, she has participated in softball and bowling leagues, and she has taught four generations of Canasta players in her family the fine art of winning; gregarious and outgoing, she is always ready and eager to dress in her matching best and attend a social gathering; and WHEREAS, From helping to raise her many younger siblings to caring for her parents at the end of their lives, she has been an indispensable part of her large and loving extended family, supporting and nurturing them with her devotion and her love; and WHEREAS, A beloved and respected member of her community, she is noted for her courage and strength, her wit, and her enthusiasm for living each day to the fullest; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd Legislature, hereby recognize Antonia R. Arias as a treasured citizen of our state and extend to her best wishes for a memorable 90th birthday; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for her as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
