SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 227 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize the members of Leadership Keller on the occasion of their visit to Austin and the State Capitol on February 17 and 18, 2011; and WHEREAS, Leadership Keller is an eight-month program that brings together a small group of area professionals for an intensive study of the various aspects of the Keller community; and WHEREAS, The goals of this outstanding program include providing participants with a unique educational experience and helping them to develop their leadership skills; the program also aims to motivate emerging leaders and help them to acquire a working knowledge of the community; and WHEREAS, Participants take backstage and behind-the-scenes tours of local schools, hospitals, community service agencies, city offices, entertainment venues, and police and fire departments to learn about the different sectors of the community; and WHEREAS, The program also includes meetings with local officials and political leaders and a trip to Austin, where participants meet with elected leaders, state personnel, and agency department heads; and WHEREAS, Through the Leadership Keller program, participants learn about the inner workings of private and public institutions and discover ways in which they can most effectively contribute to the betterment of their community; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd Legislature, hereby commend Leadership Keller for its innovative and thorough approach to preparing citizens for prominent roles in their community; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for the group as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
