SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 271 In Memory of Maria Rosa Pena WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the citizens of San Antonio in mourning the loss of Maria Rosa Pena, who died January 10, 2011, at the age of 67; and WHEREAS, Maria Pena was an exemplary citizen who was widely admired in the community for her many achievements; and WHEREAS, Born October 28, 1943, Maria Pena was a 1962 graduate of South San Antonio High School; she displayed her skills as an entrepreneur and businesswoman for 35 years at San Antonio's Market Square; and WHEREAS, A woman of courage, kindness, and dignity, she gave unselfishly to others, and her wisdom, her generous spirit, and her enthusiasm for living each day to the fullest will not be forgotten by those who knew her; and WHEREAS, She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, and her family and countless friends will continue to live with the cherished memories of her life and her many accomplishments; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved family of Maria Rosa Pena: her husband of 45 years, Roman Pena; her children, Gregory, Michael, Gabriel, and Lucinda; her sisters, Enriqueta, Paula, and Mercy; her brothers, Gregory, Jorje, and Jesse; and her grandchildren, Valerie, Vincent, and Logan; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for her family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Maria Rosa Pena.
