SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 273 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize Elease Edwards on the joyous occasion of her 100th birthday, on February 23, 2011; and WHEREAS, Elease Edwards was born in Rains County, Texas, on February 23, 1911; she was the fourth of six girls born to Anna and Frank Edwards; and WHEREAS, Throughout her life, Miss Edwards has been dedicated to her work as a caretaker for others; she was a longtime nursing assistant at hospitals and nursing homes, and she has consistently been a source of strength to members of her family; and WHEREAS, She attended the birth of each of her 14 nieces and nephews and has given them, as well as her grandnieces and grandnephews, her love and support throughout their lives; a tireless worker, she continues to drive her 15-year-old niece to her high school on a daily basis; and WHEREAS, Miss Edwards stays in good physical shape by walking, and her favorite hobby is working on word puzzles; over the course of her life, she has experienced world events that most of us only read about in history books; and WHEREAS, Elease Edwards is always cheerful and quite the optimist, and she is noted for her generous nature, her courage, and her enthusiasm for living each day to the fullest; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd Legislature, hereby recognize Elease Edwards as a treasured citizen of our state and extend to her congratulations on the occasion of her 100th birthday; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in her honor.
