SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 298 WHEREAS, An inspiring couple whose lives have been enhanced by a great and enduring love, Floyd and Cassie Huckaby from Runnels County are celebrating their 70th wedding anniversary on February 22, 2011; and WHEREAS, Floyd Z. Huckaby and the former Cassie Pauline Walker were united in matrimony in 1941; through the years, they have nurtured a fulfilling marriage that has been made even richer with the addition of their children, Lyndon Z. Huckaby and his wife, Linda, Hugh Darr Huckaby and his wife, Joyce, and Randall Keith Huckaby and his wife, Laura, as well as seven grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; and WHEREAS, Mr. Huckaby joined the United States Army in 1942 and trained in San Antonio and at Camp Wolters in Mineral Wells and Camp Roberts in California; during World War II, he served at Saipan, Pearl Harbor, and Okinawa, and he was awarded the Purple Heart, AP Ribbon with two battle stars, and Army Good Conduct Medal and was discharged in 1945; and WHEREAS, While innumerable changes have taken place in the world during the past seven decades, this devoted husband and wife have remained constant in their commitment to one another, and the strength of their love has enabled them to meet life's challenges and opportunities with grace and optimism; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd Legislature, hereby congratulate Floyd and Cassie Huckaby on their 70th wedding anniversary and extend to them sincere best wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Huckaby as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
