SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 300
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
join the representatives of Tarrant County and the Coalition of
Tarrant County Chambers of Commerce in celebrating Tarrant
County Days at the State Capitol on March 2 and 3, 2011; and
WHEREAS, Tarrant County was created in 1849 and has made
the transformation from a frontier community to a modern,
contemporary center for business, education, and world-class
culture; and
WHEREAS, Tarrant County draws visitors from around the
world with outstanding entertainment and tourist attractions;
Six Flags Over Texas, the Fort Worth Zoo, and the Dallas Cowboys'
new state-of-the-art stadium provide many opportunities for
enjoyment for the entire family; Tarrant County is known for its
exemplary museums, with the Kimbell Art Museum and the Amon G.
Carter Museum offering the best in classic and American art; and
WHEREAS, Sports enthusiasts have recently enjoyed such
high-profile events as Super Bowl XLV, which was held in the new
Cowboys Stadium and drew a crowd of more than 103,000, the
second-highest attendance total in the history of the Super Bowl,
and teams based in Tarrant County have brought great pride to the
region as the Texas Rangers earned their first ticket to the
World Series by winning the American League championship last
year, and the Texas Christian University Horned Frogs, under the
leadership of Coach Gary Patterson, have become one of the most
successful football programs in the nation, capping their second
consecutive undefeated regular season by winning the Rose Bowl in
dramatic fashion; and
WHEREAS, The Coalition of Tarrant County Chambers of
Commerce provides support and leadership to a diverse and
prosperous business community; industries range from such iconic
businesses as cattle ranching to major multinational
corporations like American Airlines and Radio Shack; and
WHEREAS, The people of Tarrant County are confidently
facing a promising future while continuing to embrace their rich
and colorful past; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd
Legislature, hereby extend best wishes to the representatives of
Tarrant County and the Coalition of Tarrant County Chambers of
Commerce on the occasion of Tarrant County Days at the State
Capitol; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in
honor of this special event.
