SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 303
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize Sergeant Gary Fischer, who is retiring from the Keller
Police Department after 36 years of loyal service in law
enforcement; and
WHEREAS, Gary Fischer was a junior in high school and had
plans to go into the military until he went to a career fair;
there he selected law enforcement as his seventh choice for a
career; and
WHEREAS, He was invited to become part of the North
Richland Hills explorer program; he later was accepted into the
department's Law Enforcement Education Program, known as "LEEP";
nine months after becoming a cadet with the program, he was
offered a full-time position; and
WHEREAS, Gary transferred to the Keller Police Department
in 1983, when Keller was a rural area that had fewer than 8,000
citizens; he spent the following 27 years with the department and
is proud of starting the mounted patrol unit, which began in the
late 1980s; and
WHEREAS, An exemplary police officer, Sergeant Fischer has
handled his responsibilities with exceptional enthusiasm and
dedication and he has earned the admiration and respect of his
colleagues; his presence in the Keller Police Department will be
greatly missed; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd
Legislature, hereby commend Sergeant Gary Fischer for his many
years of hard work and contributions to the Keller Police
Department and his community and extend to him best wishes in all
his future endeavors; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
Sergeant Fischer as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
