SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 308 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to join Texans across the state in celebrating February 22, 2011, as Texas Emergency Medical Services and Trauma Day at the Capitol; and WHEREAS, The health care professionals of the Texas trauma system stand ready to assist the citizens of Texas at a moment's notice; these dedicated men and women respond to emergencies from motor vehicle accidents to natural disasters to the sudden onset of heart attacks and strokes with speed, compassion, and professionalism, often putting their own lives at risk; and WHEREAS, The Texas trauma system has 262 designated trauma facilities that are supported by 22 trauma service area regional advisory councils; more than 58,000 emergency medical services personnel, over 30,000 nurses, and over 1,900 trauma and emergency physicians work in cooperation to provide lifesaving care and vital rehabilitation services to this state's large and diverse population; and WHEREAS, Every Texan relies on emergency medical help to be available in the event of tragedy, and it is truly fitting that the men and women who provide that vital assistance be recognized for their outstanding contributions to making Texas a safer and healthier place to live; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd Legislature, hereby commend the paramedics, nurses, and physicians who provide the emergency services vital to our health and well-being and extend to them best wishes for a memorable Texas Emergency Medical Services and Trauma Day at the Capitol; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for them as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
