SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 323
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize the students of DeVry University for their dedication
to acquiring the knowledge they need to solve the problems and
address the issues that affect their fellow Texans; and
WHEREAS, DeVry University has been a leader in the field of
career-oriented education for 80 years, helping students succeed
in the classroom and workplace by offering focused, hands-on
education in emerging vocational areas of business, technology,
and management; and
WHEREAS, DeVry University has had a presence in Texas since
1969, offering tailored curricula and degree programs to match
industry demand and to give students the skills they need to
begin and enhance successful careers; and
WHEREAS, An example of DeVry University's commitment to the
practical application of knowledge is the project of seniors
Jimmy Espinoza, Luis Soriano, and William Campoverde, who have
worked with rangers of the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department to
develop an emergency survival backpack that implements
environmentally sound, renewable energy technologies and allows
the user to recharge vital portable equipment; and
WHEREAS, DeVry University has had a profound impact on the
lives of many Texans, and it is truly deserving of recognition as
it celebrates 80 years of service; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd
Legislature, hereby commend the students, faculty, and staff of
DeVry University on their commitment to excellence in education and
extend to them best wishes for continued success; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for DeVry
University as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
