SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 348 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize Senior Pastor Norman Lee Robinson and First Lady Sister Pearl Robinson of Mount Olive Baptist Church on the occasion of the celebration of their birthdays, which is taking place February 25, 2011; and WHEREAS, This special occasion will celebrate Reverend Robinson's 90th birthday and Sister Robinson's 88th birthday; this devoted couple has been together for more than half a century, and together they have raised three lovely daughters; and WHEREAS, Reverend Robinson came to Mount Olive Baptist Church in October of 1966; thanks to his inspiration and leadership, the church has grown from fewer than two dozen members to a congregation of more than 10,000 worshippers with some 35 ministers and more than 100 deacons; and WHEREAS, Through the years, Sister Robinson has provided support, strength, and wisdom to her husband, living her faith in her daily life as she set a sterling example for others to follow; and WHEREAS, Reverend and Sister Robinson have had a profound effect on the lives of countless people, and it is truly fitting that their many contributions to their church and community be honored; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd Legislature, hereby commend Senior Pastor Norman Lee Robinson and First Lady Sister Pearl Robinson on their dedication to faith and family and extend to them best wishes for a memorable birthday celebration; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for this distinguished couple as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
