SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 377 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize the CARES Foundation, Incorporated, on the occasion of its third annual Everyone CARES Gala, which is taking place March 3, 2011, in Fort Worth; and WHEREAS, This exceptional nonprofit organization was founded in 2001 to provide support for families affected by congenital adrenal hyperplasia, a genetic disorder of the adrenal gland; the ailment can result in impaired growth, infertility, adrenal crisis, and a significant decline in quality of life; and WHEREAS, The foundation provides numerous programs at no charge to help families battling the disease, including physician referrals, educational conferences, support groups, infant screening campaigns, and a website containing many valuable resources; and WHEREAS, Since its inception, the foundation has granted hundreds of thousands of dollars to medical research; more than 3,200 families and medical professionals have benefited from its programs and services; and WHEREAS, The 2011 Everyone CARES Gala recognizes the contributions of several honorees who have had an important impact on the diagnosis and treatment of the disease; the Visionary Award is going to Dr. Bradford L. Therrell, Jr.; Dr. Richard J. Auchus is receiving the Pioneer Award; and the winner of the Corporate Sponsor Award is Virtuoso; and WHEREAS, It is truly fitting that this exemplary foundation and its supporters be recognized for their many important contributions to the medical community; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd Legislature, hereby commend the CARES Foundation, Incorporated, on its outstanding work in raising awareness of the dangers of congenital adrenal hyperplasia and extend best wishes for a successful Everyone CARES Gala; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for the foundation as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
