SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 402
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize the annual Smokin' Possum Cook-off as a Texas State
Barbecue Championship competition; and
WHEREAS, Held annually on beautiful Possum Kingdom Lake,
the event takes place every spring to kick off the summer
season; and
WHEREAS, The event is held in conjunction with the PK
West Fest, which draws several thousand people to the west
side of Possum Kingdom to benefit the local businesses in the
lake area; and
WHEREAS, Texans are noted for their love of barbecue, and
over the years the participating teams have provided superior
cuisine, satisfying the most discriminating of palates; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd
Legislature, hereby pay tribute to the annual Smokin' Possum
Cook-off and extend best wishes to all associated with the event;
and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in
honor of the Smokin' Possum Cook-off.
