SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 427 In Memory of Pledger Bracket Cate, Jr. WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the citizens of Harlingen in mourning the loss of Pledger Bracket Cate, Jr., who died December 8, 2010, at the age of 81; and WHEREAS, Pledger Cate was born in Mexia on February 25, 1929; he earned a degree in journalism from Texas A&I University and served the nation with honor as a member of the United States Air Force; and WHEREAS, Mr. Cate enjoyed a long and productive career promoting the interests of different cities and regions through various chambers of commerce, including those of Raymondville, Weslaco, Edinburg, Harlingen, and San Antonio; and WHEREAS, A man of courage, strength, and compassion, he gave unselfishly to others, and his wisdom, warmth, and valued counsel will not be forgotten by those who knew him; and WHEREAS, He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, and he leaves behind memories that will be treasured forever by his family and many friends; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved family of Pledger Bracket Cate, Jr.: his wife, Robin; his daughters, Cathy, Marianne, Jennifer, and Patricia; and his seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Pledger Bracket Cate, Jr. Lucio ________________________________ President of the Senate I hereby certify that the above Resolution was adopted by the Senate on March 2, 2011, by a rising vote. ________________________________ Secretary of the Senate ________________________________ Member, Texas Senate
