SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 430 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize the Ivy Educational and Charitable Foundation of Houston, Incorporated, on the special occasion of its 30th anniversary; and WHEREAS, Established in April of 1981, the Ivy Educational and Charitable Foundation of Houston is a private nonprofit organization that distributes funds for charitable, educational, and scientific projects and provides direct and indirect financial assistance to deserving high school graduates and college students; and WHEREAS, Over the last 30 years, the Ivy Educational and Charitable Foundation has awarded more than $300,000 in scholarships for educational advancement and has made substantial donations to worthy charities from the American Red Cross to the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People and the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation; and WHEREAS, The goal of the organization is to establish a $100,000 permanent endowment fund, and it has made significant progress because of the hard work and dedication of its members; and WHEREAS, The foundation's 30th anniversary celebration will be highlighted by a scholarship luncheon and fashion show extravaganza on March 13, 2011, at the Hilton Americas in Houston with the theme "30 Years of Empowering, Encouraging, and Educating Youth"; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd Legislature, hereby extend congratulations to the members of the Ivy Educational and Charitable Foundation of Houston, Incorporated, on the organization's 30th anniversary and extend to all best wishes for a successful scholarship luncheon and fashion show; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for the foundation to commemorate this special occasion.
