                            SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 439
 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
 recognize Norman Douglas Brown on the grand occasion of his 70th
 birthday; and
 WHEREAS, Over the course of his 70 years, he has seen many
 momentous events and changes in the world; men have landed on the
 moon, computers have become commonplace, and mobile telephones
 are the rule rather than the exception; and
 WHEREAS, Doug Brown was born March 27, 1941, in New York
 City to Carol Joyce Brown and Norman Douglas Brown, Sr.; he moved
 to Austin in 1958 to attend The University of Texas at Austin; and
 WHEREAS, Doug married Judith Schas on December 20, 1968,
 and the couple has formed a committed relationship built on love,
 devotion, and mutual respect; and
 WHEREAS, He takes great pride in his son, Timothy Douglas,
 who has been a source of much joy, and his daughter and
 son-in-law, Rosemary Louise and Monty Warren Wynn, who have
 blessed him with two grandchildren, Aiden Douglas Wynn and Owen
 Kenneth Wynn; and
 WHEREAS, His entrepreneurial skills have found expression
 in his business, Oat Willie's, which celebrated its 40th
 anniversary in 2008; a respected and admired member of his
 community, he is truly deserving of recognition as he passes this
 birthday milestone; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd
 Legislature, hereby commend Norman Douglas Brown on his many
 achievements and extend to him best wishes for a memorable 70th
 birthday; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
 him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
