SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 453 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize Houston's Korean Community Center on the occasion of the celebration on March 12, 2011, of the grand opening of its new building; and WHEREAS, A city shaped by its cultural diversity, Houston has been enriched by its residents of Korean ancestry and is fortunate to be the beneficiary of their considerable contributions to the life of the city; and WHEREAS, The Korean Community Center was established in 1979 with the aim of empowering Houston's Korean American community through education, advocacy, and the development of a wide variety of resources; and WHEREAS, The Korean Community Center is a valuable nonprofit organization that provides support programs and comprehensive social services to a diverse community; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd Legislature, hereby commend those who founded the Korean Community Center in Houston and those who serve in its programs and extend congratulations to all on the grand opening of the center's new building; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for the center as a memento of this special occasion.
