                            SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 455
 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
 recognize the certified retirement communities in Texas, which
 play an important role in attracting retirees to desirable
 retirement locations within the Lone Star State; and
 WHEREAS, Marketing the appeal of Texas as a retirement
 destination benefits all Texans; retirees contribute socially
 and economically to the state in which they retire by bringing
 volunteerism, experience, and a wealth of knowledge to their
 communities and generating a substantial positive economic
 impact; and
 WHEREAS, The Texas Department of Agriculture administers
 the GO TEXAN Certified Retirement Community program to assist
 Texas communities in encouraging retirees to make their home in a
 Texas certified retirement community; and
 WHEREAS, Today's younger and more active retirees seek
 communities that can fit their lifestyle; the GO TEXAN stamp of
 approval ensures that each certified community has demonstrated
 an ability to meet the living, employment, volunteer, health,
 entertainment, education, and safety needs of citizens; and
 WHEREAS, The GO TEXAN Certified Retirement Community
 program and its participants are truly worthy of recognition for
 their efforts in promoting Texas as a desirable retirement
 destination; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd
 Legislature, hereby commend the communities that have earned the
 title of GO TEXAN Certified Retirement Community and recognize
 April 20, 2011, as "Retire in Texas Day"; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
 the certified retirement communities as an expression of high
 regard from the Texas Senate.
