SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 492
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize Jacob Thomas Gaslin of Troop 7 in McAllen, who has
achieved the rank of Eagle Scout and will be presented the
coveted Eagle Badge at a Court of Honor on March 13, 2011; and
WHEREAS, To earn the highest advancement rank, a Scout must
be committed to doing his best in all aspects of his life; he must
fulfill requirements in the areas of leadership, service,
outdoor skills, and personal and social responsibility and rise
through the ranks of Tenderfoot, Second Class, First Class, Star,
and Life to achieve the rank of Eagle Scout; and
WHEREAS, Jacob showed outstanding leadership through the
planning and execution of a service project that has benefited
his community; he helped to create a walking trail and improved
birdwatching facilities in the wetlands south of San Juan; and
WHEREAS, Jacob is a senior at the Science Academy and has
won several first place trophies in University Interscholastic
League competitions that relate to current events; he plans to
attend Texas A&M University and major in political science; and
WHEREAS, Jacob has demonstrated that he is faithful to the
Scout Oath and Law; he is truly a shining example for the young
people of Texas, and he brings great honor to himself, his
family, and his troop, all of whom rejoice in his noteworthy
accomplishment; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd
Legislature, hereby commend Jacob Thomas Gaslin for earning the
rank of Eagle Scout and congratulate him on his great
achievement; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
Eagle Scout Gaslin as an expression of highest regard from the
Texas Senate.
