SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 531
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas takes pleasure
in recognizing the Neches High School girls' basketball team
for winning the Class 1A Division II state championship title;
and
WHEREAS, The Lady Tigers won their second straight title
by defeating Whitharral High School 65-44 in the championship
game in Austin and finished the year with a 37-4 record for the
season; and
WHEREAS, This highly successful year is a tribute to the
girls' outstanding talents and to their team spirit; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the season, the players devoted many
hours to practicing the finer skills of the game and exercised
individual discipline and perseverance; and
WHEREAS, Under the able leadership of head coach Andy
Snider, the Lady Tigers have exhibited respect for the highest
ideals of American sportsmanship and have brought honor to
themselves, their school, and their community; now, therefore,
be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd
Legislature, hereby commend the members of the Neches High School
girls' basketball team for their remarkable season and for
earning the Class 1A Division II state championship title; and,
be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
the team as a token of esteem from the Texas Senate.
