SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 585 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize Agent Andres Maldonado on the occasion of his retirement from the Texas Department of Public Safety after 23 years of loyal service; and WHEREAS, Andy Maldonado first became interested in law enforcement at the age of 16, when he was hired as a dispatcher for the Willacy County Sheriff's Office during a summer program; he began working for the Raymondville Police Department in 1979 as a dispatcher; he attended the Regional Police Academy in Harlingen during the day, worked dispatch at night, and patrolled on weekends; and WHEREAS, He attended the Texas Department of Public Safety Academy in Austin in 1988 and was assigned to Rockport after graduating in May; after two years, he was transferred to Raymondville, where he served with the Texas Highway Patrol Service for 11 years; he was appointed corporal for the Weslaco area; and WHEREAS, He transferred to the Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Service in Raymondville and worked there for seven years before being promoted to sergeant in the Narcotics Service and transferring to Laredo; he later worked in McAllen and in Harlingen, his final duty station as a Criminal Investigations Division agent; and WHEREAS, Agent Maldonado has been recognized for his effectiveness and expertise in several fields, and he received the Regional Commander's Award for his exemplary service; he has throughout his career handled his many responsibilities with exceptional dedication and reliability, and he will be greatly missed; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd Legislature, hereby commend Andres Maldonado for his valuable service with the Texas Department of Public Safety and extend to him best wishes for his retirement years ahead; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
