SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 67
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize the Turquoise Council of Americans and Eurasians on the
occasion of its Turkic-Texan Friendship Reception and Awards
Dinner; and
WHEREAS, The Turquoise Council of Americans and Eurasians
is an independent umbrella organization dedicated to promoting
interaction and goodwill between the people of the United States
and people of Turkish, Turkic, and Eurasian heritage; and
WHEREAS, The council pursues its goals through a variety of
events and programs, including its annual Congressional
Friendship Dinner in Washington, D.C., sister city pacts between
American and Turkish cities, and town hall meetings; and
WHEREAS, The Turkic-Texan Friendship Reception and Awards
Dinner offers guests several opportunities to experience
elements of Turkish culture, including live Turkish music,
Turkish cuisine, a calligraphy performance, and a water marbling
demonstration; and
WHEREAS, The Republic of Turkey and other Turkic nations
are valuable members of the global community whose cultural,
social, and economic contributions play a vital role in the world
today; Turkey has the 16th-largest economy in the world and has
enjoyed a strong, vibrant, and mutually beneficial economic
relationship with the State of Texas; and
WHEREAS, The Turquoise Council of Americans and Eurasians
has helped to foster the spirit of mutual understanding and
cooperation that encourages such productive and rewarding global
exchange, and it is truly deserving of recognition for its
exemplary efforts in promoting cultural, educational, and
business relations among the peoples of the United States and
Turkey; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd
Legislature, hereby commend the Turquoise Council of Americans
and Eurasians on its exemplary efforts to promote intercultural
understanding and goodwill and extend to all best wishes for a
successful and memorable Turkic-Texan Friendship Reception and
Awards Dinner; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
the council as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
