SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 676 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize the Honorable Billy Mills for his 35 years of exceptional service as presiding judge of County Criminal Court Number 3 in Tarrant County; and WHEREAS, A graduate of the Dedman School of Law at Southern Methodist University, Judge Mills began his legal career as an assistant district attorney for Tarrant County; following a time in private practice, he returned to the district attorney's office before assuming the bench of County Criminal Court Number 3 in 1976; and WHEREAS, With 35 years on the bench, he is the longest-serving judge in the State of Texas; and WHEREAS, Talented and resourceful, Judge Mills has through the years handled his many responsibilities with integrity, professionalism, and compassion; and WHEREAS, Judge Mills has been recognized for his excellence on the bench, receiving the 2005 Silver Gavel Award from the Tarrant County Bar Association; and WHEREAS, An exceptional jurist and legal mind, Judge Mills is respected and admired by his colleagues, and his long tenure on the bench is a reflection of his fairness and impartiality, his determination, and his thorough knowledge of law; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd Legislature, hereby commend Judge Billy Mills on his dedication to equal justice under the law and extend to him best wishes for continued success in all his future endeavors; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
