SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 708 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to join the Community Action Advisory Board in San Antonio and community action agencies across America in celebrating the month of May 2011 as Community Action Month; and WHEREAS, Community action agencies and organizations across the nation are united in their efforts to address the issue of poverty and to ensure that people who are poor get the help they need to improve their lives; and WHEREAS, The Community Action Advisory Board in San Antonio provides a forum for reviewing and creating policy on poverty and on the most effective means to help low-income families achieve economic stability; it acts in an advisory capacity for the San Antonio City Council; and WHEREAS, Poverty is a concern for Texans and for all Americans; communities across the nation form organizations to plan the most efficient means to help persons with low incomes become more self-sufficient; and WHEREAS, Community action changes people's lives, improves communities, and makes America a better place to live; it is indeed appropriate that community action agencies and those who serve receive the recognition they deserve; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd Legislature, hereby commend the members of the Community Action Board in San Antonio and members of like agencies around this state and our nation for their service and their commitment to helping others and proclaim the month of May 2011 as Community Action Month in the State of Texas; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in honor of Community Action Month.
