SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 716 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to join the citizens of Fort Bend County and Texans across the state in celebrating April 16, 2011, as Fort Bend County Black Nurses Association Day; and WHEREAS, An affiliate of the National Black Nurses Association, the Fort Bend County Black Nurses Association was founded in 2001 to provide a forum for collective action by African American nurses; and WHEREAS, This respected organization has diligently worked to investigate and determine the health care needs of African Americans and other minorities and to implement the changes needed to make the level of care they receive equal to that enjoyed by society at large; and WHEREAS, The association has received numerous awards from such organizations as the American Heart Association and the March of Dimes, and it has been recognized by the national headquarters for its excellence in community service; 17 of its nurses have received national Nurse of the Year awards for their superior service; and WHEREAS, This impressive organization is truly deserving of recognition for its legacy of outstanding care; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd Legislature, hereby commend the Fort Bend County Black Nurses Association on 10 years of outstanding service to the community and extend to its members best wishes for a successful Fort Bend County Black Nurses Association Day; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for this exemplary organization as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
