SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 741 In Memory of Margaret Moore Solomon WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the citizens of Dallas in mourning the loss of Margaret Moore Solomon, who died October 16, 2010, at the age of 100; and WHEREAS, Margaret Cammack Moore was born on May 15, 1910, in Dallas; her family's Texas roots trace back to the days of Sam Houston, as Margaret's great-grandfather Jonas Harrison was one of Sam Houston's attorneys; and WHEREAS, Margaret attended The Hockaday School, where she and the school's founder, Ela Hockaday, began a lifelong friendship; in 1927, Margaret enrolled in Southern Methodist University, when Dallas Hall was the only building on campus; and WHEREAS, At the age of 22, Margaret married Marion Solomon on March 6, 1933; the couple was blessed with two sons, Charles and William, and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and WHEREAS, Margaret was dedicated to her work as a homemaker and was a much beloved wife and mother; she was noted for her integrity, her intelligence, and her great sense of humor; and WHEREAS, An exemplary lady, Margaret Solomon gave unselfishly of her time to others, and she leaves behind memories that will be treasured forever by her family and many friends; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved family of Margaret Moore Solomon; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for the members of her family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Margaret Moore Solomon.
