SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 774
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize Georgia D. Provost on the occasion of her birthday; and
WHEREAS, This gracious lady is well known for her charm and
generosity of spirit, and she is an icon in the field of
photography in Houston; and
WHEREAS, A graduate of Texas Southern University, Mrs.
Provost leads the firm of Provost and Associates, which has since
1948 photographically chronicled the rich culture and history of
Houston and the Gulf Coast area with professionalism and
exceptional skill; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Provost is also noted for her philanthropic
endeavors and is a vital member of the dynamic fundraising team
of Helfman, Provost, and I Believe in You; her charitable work
and her volunteer efforts have allowed her to have a profound
effect on the lives of Houston's young people; and
WHEREAS, She has won numerous awards over the course of her
illustrious career and is a leader in several community
organizations, including the Black Texans Council for Higher
Education and the Texas Metropolitan Organization; and
WHEREAS, In celebration of her birthday, friends and
family are gathering April 23, 2011, at the Ensemble in Houston
to congratulate her and, in a gesture characteristic of her
nature, raise funds for the Athletics Department and Tennis
Program at Texas Southern University; a beloved and respected
member of her community, she is noted for her courage, her
compassion for others, and her enthusiasm for living each day to
the fullest; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd
Legislature, hereby commend Georgia D. Provost on her many
outstanding achievements and extend to her best wishes for a
memorable birthday celebration; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
her as a memento of this milestone in her life.
