SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 791 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas takes pleasure in congratulating Danica Brett Yates of Angleton on the occasion of her high school graduation on May 29, 2011; and WHEREAS, A homeschool student, Danica has demonstrated diligence and determination in achieving the goals she set for herself, and she has fulfilled all the requirements for a high school diploma; and WHEREAS, Having successfully faced the many challenges of a high school education, Danica now embarks on an adventure into a world for which she is well prepared and which holds countless opportunities for her; and WHEREAS, Danica has displayed outstanding leadership and organizational skills in earning the Brazoria County 4-H Gold Star Award and in earning the Senior Girl Scout Gold Award with the Girl Scouts of America, and she has joined the elite sisterhood of only four percent of Girl Scouts who achieve this high honor; and WHEREAS, Danica has exhibited superior shooting skills in archery and has won high honors at the county, district, state, and national 4-H levels; she was selected by the Texas 4-H Shooting Sports Committee to represent Texas at the National 4-H Shooting Sports Games for the last three years, competing in the compound archery competition in 2008, in the hunting competition in 2009, and in the recurve archery competition in 2010; and WHEREAS, Danica loves flowers and gardening, and she was named Texas Junior Master Gardener of the Year in 2005, not just because of her green thumb, but also because of her community service; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd Legislature, hereby commend Danica Brett Yates on her many accomplishments and extend to her best wishes for success in all her future endeavors; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for this exemplary young Texan as an expression of the high regard of the Texas Senate.
