SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 8 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the citizens of Lewisville in celebrating the grand opening of the Medical Center of Lewisville Grand Theater, which is taking place January 14 through 16, 2011; and WHEREAS, This exceptional facility will provide local arts groups and artists a place in which to perform and to display their works; it will also serve as a site for regional and national exhibits and events; and WHEREAS, The Medical Center of Lewisville Grand Theater will offer the versatility of a black box theater and a traditional proscenium theater designed with acoustics for both speech and musical performances; it also contains a dance recital hall with a sprung wood floor and a gallery wing with natural lighting and adjustable display walls; and WHEREAS, The classroom wing will offer 2,800 square feet of space for instruction, with an emphasis on studio art classes for children, and the landscaped courtyard will add yet another flexible space for use by local artists; and WHEREAS, In addition to the formal dedication ceremony, the grand opening will feature jazz and blues concerts, tours of the facility, a brunch, a barbecue dinner, and other activities; it is truly fitting that this exceptional new facility be recognized as a valuable addition to the Metroplex arts scene; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd Legislature, hereby extend best wishes for a memorable grand opening weekend for the Medical Center of Lewisville Grand Theater; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared as a memento of this special occasion.
