SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 808 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize Karen Bessette, who is retiring after 16 years of exceptional service as principal of Randolph Elementary School on Randolph Air Force Base; and WHEREAS, Karen Bessette came to the Randolph Field Independent School District in 1995 after having served as a teacher and administrator for many years in San Antonio; she is noted for her caring concern and her active involvement with students, faculty, staff, and parents; and WHEREAS, Under her outstanding leadership, Randolph Elementary School was named a National Blue Ribbon School in 2001 and has received Exemplary ratings from the Texas Education Agency since 2007; the school emphasizes the concept of teaching the whole child and is known for its programs for special needs and gifted students and its excellent arts curriculum; and WHEREAS, Active in community and professional affairs, she has served as president of the Texas Elementary Principals and Supervisors Association and received the Community Award from the Girl Scouts of America; and WHEREAS, Karen Bessette is an exemplary educator and administrator; she is respected and admired throughout the community, and her presence as principal of Randolph Elementary School will be greatly missed; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd Legislature, hereby commend Karen Bessette on her exceptional service with the Randolph Field Independent School District and extend to her best wishes for the retirement years ahead; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for her as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
