                            SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 817
 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
 recognize Ben Meador, who is retiring from his position as a
 member of the board of trustees of San Jacinto College; and
 WHEREAS, Ben Meador has served on the board of trustees
 since 2004 and has been secretary of the board for the past four
 years; his longtime support of San Jacinto College dates back to
 1960, when he handed out flyers in the community to advocate for
 the college's establishment; and
 WHEREAS, Mr. Meador chaired the chancellor search
 committee in 2003, and he has served as a member of the San
 Jacinto College Continuing Education and Business Education
 Advisory Committee; a founding member of the San Jacinto College
 Foundation, he served as vice chairman of its board of directors
 in 2002; and
 WHEREAS, In addition to his work on behalf of the college,
 he is a well-known leader in the Pasadena community and has held
 key positions in numerous local organizations, including the
 Pasadena Chamber of Commerce and the Pasadena Rotary Club; he was
 named a Pasadena Independent School District Distinguished
 Alumnus in 2002; and
 WHEREAS, Ben Meador's leadership and loyal service have had
 a lasting impact on San Jacinto College, and he deserves much
 credit for helping to develop the fine institution the college is
 today; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd
 Legislature, hereby commend Ben Meador on his years of
 outstanding service on behalf of San Jacinto College and for his
 valuable leadership as a member of its board of trustees; and, be
 it further
 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
 him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
