                            SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 881
 In Memory
 of
 Paul Wesley Hanson
 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the
 citizens of Brownsville in mourning the loss of noted educator
 Paul Wesley Hanson, who died April 9, 2011, at the age of 63; and
 WHEREAS, Paul Hanson was born November 24, 1947; he earned
 a bachelor's degree in education from Western Washington
 University and a master's degree in education administration
 from The University of Texas at Brownsville; and
 WHEREAS, Mr. Hanson married Gail Louise Mosness in 1969,
 and the couple raised three children, who blessed them with six
 grandchildren; and
 WHEREAS, He founded Valley Christian High School, where
 for 38 years he served as principal and teacher; he taught a wide
 variety of classes in science, mathematics, and the Bible while
 working 60 to 70 hours a week to ensure that his students had a
 rewarding and inspirational education; he believed that high
 school should be a transformative experience and took his
 students on trips to Mexico, Europe, and throughout Texas to
 further that goal; and
 WHEREAS, A devout Christian who practiced his faith in his
 daily life, Mr. Hanson reached out monthly to the poor of
 Matamoros by providing food and clothing; and
 WHEREAS, A man of courage, strength, and unshakeable
 faith, he gave unselfishly to others, and his wisdom, his
 generous spirit, and his integrity will not be forgotten by those
 who were privileged to share in his life; and
 WHEREAS, He was a devoted husband, father, and
 grandfather, and although he will be deeply missed by his family
 and friends, his spirit will abide in their hearts for years to
 come; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd
 Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved
 family of Paul Wesley Hanson: his loving wife of 42 years, Gail
 Hanson; his sons and daughters-in-law, Joel and Gloria, Marco and
 Margaret, and David and Anna; his brother, Phil; and his six
 grandchildren; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
 his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas
 Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in
 memory of Paul Wesley Hanson.
