SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 898
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize Special Ranger T. R. "Hap" Roberts on his 48 years of
outstanding service in the field of law enforcement; and
WHEREAS, Hap Roberts began his career in law enforcement in
1963 when he became a Willacy County deputy sheriff; in 1966, he
joined the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department and served as a
game warden for Region 5, District 2, in Corpus Christi; he later
served as one of the department's training coordinators in the
Game Warden Academy in Austin; and
WHEREAS, In 1973, he joined the Texas and Southwestern
Cattle Raisers Association as a field inspector; he was later
commissioned as a Special Ranger of the association by the Texas
Department of Public Safety; and
WHEREAS, Special Ranger Roberts served the district that
included McMullen, Duval, Jim Wells, Nueces, Kleberg, and Kenedy
Counties; on March 1, 2003, he was appointed to the position of
regional supervisor for District 4, which consists of 42 counties
in South Texas; and
WHEREAS, Admired and respected by his colleagues, Special
Ranger Roberts is well known for his dedication to his work and
for his courage and leadership; and
WHEREAS, Throughout his career, he has skillfully managed
the responsibilities of the various positions in which he has
served, and he has consistently displayed an in-depth knowledge
of both the cattle industry and the many facets of law
enforcement duty; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd
Legislature, hereby commend Special Ranger T. R. Roberts on his
exceptional career in the field of law enforcement and on his
many contributions to the citizens of Texas and extend best
wishes to him for the future; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
