                            SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 923
 In Memory
 of
 George E. Freeborn
 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the
 citizens of San Antonio in mourning the loss of George E.
 Freeborn, who died March 15, 2011, at the age of 84; and
 WHEREAS, George Freeborn was born on March 13, 1927, in Los
 Angeles, California, to Genevieve Helen Lloyd Freeborn and Dr.
 Grant Freeborn; he proudly served his country in the United
 States Navy Air Corps from 1944 to 1946; and
 WHEREAS, He was the founder of TexTek Plastics,
 Incorporated, in San Antonio, and served as its chief executive
 officer until he sold the company in 1992; he was a pioneer in the
 plastics industry, and his innovations were recognized with
 awards and are still in use today; and
 WHEREAS, He was a fellow of the Society of Plastics
 Engineers and a past director at large of the Society of the
 Plastics Industry; in 1987, he was the recipient of the CIM
 Leaders Award presented by Plastics Technology for Pioneering
 Computer Integration in Plastics Manufacturing; and
 WHEREAS, He was respected for his outstanding
 accomplishments and for his leadership in the community; he was a
 past president of the North Central Rotary Club and a former
 member of the board of directors of the Lighthouse for the Blind;
 he was also a member of the board of directors of the Lyric Opera
 of San Antonio; and
 WHEREAS, A devout man, he was a member of Saint Pius X
 Catholic Church and of the Knights of Columbus Alamo Council
 4298; he was a Knight of the Equestrian Order of the Holy
 Sepulcher; and
 WHEREAS, Mr. Freeborn was passionate about world travel
 and was an avid photographer and videographer; he also loved
 spending time camping, boating, and fishing with his family; and
 WHEREAS, A man of integrity, strength, and generosity, he
 gave unselfishly of his time to others, and his wisdom, warmth,
 and valued counsel will not be forgotten by those who knew him;
 and
 WHEREAS, George Freeborn was a devoted husband, father,
 and grandfather, and he leaves behind memories that will be
 treasured forever by his family and many friends; now, therefore,
 be it
 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd
 Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved
 family of George Freeborn: his beloved wife of 62 years, Tina
 Freeborn; his sons and daughter-in-law, Mark Freeborn and Sheryl
 and Scott Freeborn; and his grandchildren and
 great-grandchildren; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
 the members of his family as an expression of deepest sympathy
 from the Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this
 day, it do so in memory of George E. Freeborn.
