 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Judge Benito V. Garza has faithfully served the
 people of Duval County as justice of the peace for Precinct 3 for
 nearly three and a half decades; and
 WHEREAS, In addition to his continuing leadership in this
 role, Judge Garza contributed to his community as fire chief for
 half a century, and he also worked as the food service director for
 Benavides High School for 56 years; and
 WHEREAS, "Benny" Garza was born in Charco in Goliad County to
 Macario and Mirtala Vera Garza in 1924; he interrupted his studies
 at Benavides High to answer his nation's call to duty during World
 War II; after more than three years of service in the U.S. Army, he
 returned to graduate in 1946; and
 WHEREAS, Throughout his career in public service, Judge Garza
 has enjoyed the love and support of his wife, Maria, and their sons,
 Daniel, David, and Benny, and their family has grown to include five
 grandchildren, Daniel, Eva, Jennifer, Andres, and Denise, and two
 great-grandchildren, Ella and Hailey; Judge and Mrs. Garza take
 great comfort in their faith as active members of Santa Rosa de Lima
 Catholic Church, where they attend mass daily, and Judge Garza has
 belonged to the American Legion for 33 years; and
 WHEREAS, Benito Garza's dedication, professionalism, and
 commitment to his fellow citizens have greatly benefited Benavides
 and Duval County, and he may indeed take great pride in his long and
 inspiring record of civic engagement; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
 Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby honor Judge Benito V. Garza
 for his 34 years of service as justice of the peace for Precinct 3 in
 Duval County and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued
 success and happiness; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for Judge Garza as an expression of high regard by the
 Texas House of Representatives.
