H.R. No. 140 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, An inspiring couple whose lives have been enhanced by a great and enduring love, Don and Linda Rhodes of Mineola celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on May 20, 2011; and WHEREAS, Don Herbert Rhodes and the former Linda Peacock eloped and were married at a Baptist church in Greenville in 1961; through the years, they have nurtured a fulfilling marriage that has been made even richer with the addition of their daughter, Donna Lin Palmer, and her husband, Myron, and their grandchildren, Alex and Linlee; and WHEREAS, Residents of the Mineola area since the 1940s, Mr. Rhodes retired from the railroad, while Mrs. Rhodes is a real estate agent; they are avid golfers and live on 110 acres outside of town; and WHEREAS, While much has changed in the world over the past five decades, this devoted husband and wife have remained constant in their commitment to one another, and the strength of their love has enabled them to meet life's challenges and opportunities with grace and optimism; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby congratulate Don and Linda Rhodes on their golden wedding anniversary and extend to them sincere best wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Rhodes as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
