 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Residents of Marshall lost a beloved neighbor and
 respected businessman with the passing of James E. Taylor on May 13,
 2011, at the age of 78; and
 WHEREAS, Jim Taylor was born on May 15, 1932, to Ermine and
 Johnnie Taylor; he served his country with distinction in the U.S.
 Army and went on to have a notable career in banking as a chief
 financial officer; and
 WHEREAS, An engaged civic leader as well, Mr. Taylor
 contributed to a number of worthwhile organizations through the
 years; he benefited many people through his 30 years of service as a
 Rotarian, and he also volunteered with the United Way, Meals on
 Wheels, the Marshall Symphony Society, and the Harrison County
 Republican Party; and
 WHEREAS, Also dedicated to the congregation at First United
 Methodist Church, Mr. Taylor served his fellow members as a Sunday
 school teacher, chair of the administrative council, and head of
 the finance and organ restoration committee; and
 WHEREAS, In all of his endeavors, he enjoyed the support of
 his wife, Shirley, and he delighted in the company of his children,
 Lynn and Jeffrey, and his five grandchildren; and
 WHEREAS, Jim Taylor gave freely of his time and expertise to
 better his community, and he leaves behind a record of service that
 his loved ones can remember with pride; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
 Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the life of
 James E. Taylor and extend deepest sympathy to the members of his
 family: to his wife, Shirley Murrah Taylor; to his daughter, Lynn
 Taylor Dodson, and her husband, David; to his son, Jeffrey Taylor,
 and his wife, Lisa; to his grandchildren, Mary, Katie, Chris,
 Claire, and Connie; to his brother, Larry Taylor, and his wife,
 Shirl; and to his other relatives and friends; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of James E.
 Taylor.
