 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Family and friends are mourning the untimely loss of
 Yolanda Evette Williams, who passed away on June 17, 2011, at the
 age of 44; and
 WHEREAS, The daughter of Harold and Lois Moore, the former
 Yolanda Moore was born on June 4, 1967, in Houston; as a girl, she
 was affectionately called "Yogi," and she enjoyed dancing, playing
 the piano, and riding horses with her father; she was also active in
 her church, singing in the choir and serving on the usher board and
 as a Sunday school youth leader; and
 WHEREAS, An accomplished student at Booker T. Washington High
 School for Engineering Professions, Mrs. Williams was a cheerleader
 and a member of the Honor Society; she graduated as one of the top 10
 students in her class and went on to attend Southern Methodist
 University on a full academic scholarship; and
 WHEREAS, Mrs. Williams later transferred to Texas Southern
 University and was initiated into the Delta Gamma chapter of Delta
 Sigma Theta Sorority; after earning her bachelor's degree in
 journalism, she completed the nursing program at The University of
 Texas Health Science Center at Houston, and she subsequently
 received dual master's degrees in business administration and
 health administration from the University of Houston--Clear Lake;
 and
 WHEREAS, Throughout a health care career that began in 1993,
 Mrs. Williams demonstrated a genuine care for patients; following
 her 12-year tenure with Memorial Hermann and Memorial Hermann
 Southwest, she became chief operations officer, chief clinical
 officer, and assistant administrator at Kindred Hospital and then
 joined the Atrium Medical Center Hospital in Stafford, where she
 served as chief clinical officer; and
 WHEREAS, She met the love of her life, Michael Williams, at
 Texas Southern University in 1989, and they were married three
 years later and became the parents of two cherished daughters;
 rejoicing in her roles as a devoted wife and caring mother, she was
 ever supportive of her husband's endeavors and very involved in her
 children's school activities; she was a member of the Houston
 chapter of Jack and Jill of America and served on a number of school
 committees; and
 WHEREAS, Always active in a community of faith, Mrs. Williams
 and her family joined Good Hope Baptist Church in 2004, and she was
 a member of the discipleship team, the choir, the marriage
 ministry, and the Women of Hope; she also loved to travel and spent
 many memorable vacations with family and friends visiting sites
 across this country and on cruises throughout the Caribbean; and
 WHEREAS, Yolanda Williams lived a caring and purposeful life,
 rich in the intangibles that matter most, and she leaves behind a
 remarkable legacy that will forever be treasured by all those who
 were privileged to know her; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
 Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the memory
 of Yolanda Evette Williams and extend deepest sympathy to the
 members of her family: to her husband, Michael R. Williams; to her
 daughters, Kendra Nicole and Jasmine Simone; to her mother,
 Dr. Lois Jean Moore; and to her other relatives and many friends;
 and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Yolanda
 Evette Williams.
