No. 249 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, The Katy Trail Ice House in Dallas celebrated its grand opening on April 20, 2011; and WHEREAS, Situated along the Katy Trail pedestrian and bicycle path, this beer garden and restaurant bills itself as an "Austin-style joint"; its spacious building and rustic decor are complemented by a large, tree-shaded back patio filled with picnic tables, and waitstaff wear "Keep the Trail Weird" T-shirts; and WHEREAS, In addition to its welcoming atmosphere, the Ice House is distinguished by its 50 beers on tap and selection of burgers and sandwiches, and it is quickly becoming a popular hangout for everyone from joggers to business executives; and WHEREAS, Locally owned restaurants such as the Katy Trail Ice House enhance the cultural diversity of Texas communities, and it is indeed a pleasure to honor this unique addition to the culinary landscape of Dallas; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby commemorate the grand opening of the Katy Trail Ice House and extend to its owners and staff sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for the restaurant as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
