H.R. No. 274
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Jenna Pisarski of Brazoswood High School in Clute
reached the pinnacle of high school wrestling success by winning
the state title in the 110-pound weight class at the University
Interscholastic League State Tournament, held on February 25 and
26, 2011, in Austin; and
WHEREAS, Demonstrating remarkable skill and dedication, Ms.
Pisarski dominated each of her matches at the meet and claimed the
crown by pinning her finals opponent, Shanay Colyar of Langham
Creek High School in Houston; the victory brought the Brazoswood
junior's season record to a perfect 29-0 and gave her school its
first wrestling state title; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Pisarski has competed in the state meet in each
of her three years of high school competition, finishing third in
both her freshman and sophomore years and being defeated by the
eventual state champion in both of those events; determined to take
home the title in 2011, she worked out daily to increase her stamina
and hone her abilities, and her efforts were rewarded with her
triumph in the state finals; and
WHEREAS, A member of a squad that emphasizes the importance
of academic excellence in addition to athletic achievements, Ms.
Pisarski and her fellow Brazoswood wrestlers have benefited from
the guidance and expertise of coach Bill Baker; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Pisarski's overall high school record now stands
at 80-2, with her senior year of competition still to come, and her
success has brought a great deal of recognition to the Buccaneer
wrestling program; and
WHEREAS, The culmination of many years of hard work, Jenna
Pisarski's state title reflects her exceptional talent and
competitive spirit, and her accomplishment is a source of pride to
her classmates and her many supporters in Brazoria County; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby congratulate Jenna
Pisarski on becoming the 2010-2011 wrestling state champion in the
110-pound weight class and extend to her sincere best wishes for the
future; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Ms. Pisarski as an expression of high regard by the
Texas House of Representatives.
